![]() I loved how messy the POV switching was and how you had to tell for yourself who’s chapter you’re currently reading (that was fairly easy since each characters ‘voice’ is very distinct). It’s possible to write a book where the romance is not driving the story and Novik did it wonderfully. There isn’t any focus on romance in this book -which I thought was so refreshing. ![]() I love that even though the plot is simple, I still felt completely immersed in the story. The writing was enchanting and had a nostalgic feeling to it. The author incorporated other elements from old fairy tales as well - which, combined together, created a masterpiece of a story. This was not just a Rumpelstiltskin retelling. ![]() And just like Uprooted, Spinning Silver is a standalone fantasy set in Russia. Novik impressed me with Uprooted but she blew me away with Spinning Silver. ![]()
